Accommodations

The SHEL Conference has reserved rooms at three hotels in Lawrence: The Oread, the Marriott, and SpringHill Suites. Shuttles will be provided once in the morning to the conference venue from the downtown hotels (the Marriott and the SpringHill Suites) and once in the evening back to the hotels.

The Oread is located on the KU campus on Oread Avenue and is a three-minute walk away from the conference location. The Oread is about a 15-minute walk from down-town Lawrence. (The walk down town is mostly downhill, while the walk back is mostly uphill.) The Oread has king classic rooms available for $125 a night for weeknights and $159 a night for Friday and Saturday and queen double rooms available for $125 a night for weeknights and $209 a night for Friday and Saturday. The Marriott (TownePlace Suites Lawrence Downtown) is located in downtown Lawrence near Massachusetts Street, Lawrence's downtown area. It is within walking distance (2-3 minutes) of many of Lawrence’s restaurants, and it is not far from the campus. Walking from the hotel to the KU Union, the conference venue, takes about 30 minutes, and some of the walk is uphill. The Marriott has rooms available for $129 (+tax) a night. SpringHill Suites is located in the Riverfront Plaza next to the Kansas River and is within a 2-3 minute walk of downtown Lawrence. Walking from the hotel to the KU Union, the conference venue, takes about 40 minutes, and some of the walk is uphill. SpringHill Suites has rooms available for $101 (+tax) a night.
